| Description:
The Arneis White Grape is grown in the Peidmont region of northern Italy and is a light to medium bodied white grape. It has also been planted in California as well as Oregon. It has a pear and almond scent when turned into wine. The name Arneis, when translated, means little rascal. It is a hard grape variety to grow, but, it has been doing well in California and the Oregon region. The grapes seem to do best in the cooler regions. Arneis grapes, a rare variety, have been produced since the 15th century in Italy. At one time it was blended with red wine to produce the wine Nebbiolo, but since has come out on its own in a dry white wine. Wine lovers like it fruity flavor. It is the only variety of grapes produced in Oregon at this time by the Ponzi Vineyards; they also produce it in California. |
