| Description:
Though now grown in Northern France, the Bourboulenc variety of white grapes is most historically noted as being almost exclusively cultivated in the Southern region of France, including both Rhône and Provençal. Both Southern regions are located in valleys close to a large supply of fresh water. Though no one knows the exact date or even time period that this variety was first grown for the production of wine, it's noted by most scholars that it was brought by the Greeks at some point or another throughout history. Being one of the rarest varieties of grapes in existence, a large percentage of the Bourboulenc vine variety is added to many popular wines, making it one of the more sought after blends. With a subtle and unique flavor, it's acidity ranges from low to medium but under unique weather conditions can become higher than usual. Taste notes: This grape produces flavors that resemble a smoky citrus aroma. |
