| Description:
The Ruby Cabernet red grape variety is a wine with a mellow cherry flavor and a good color. Wherever the grapes are grown, it is resistant to drought. This wine was created in 1936 in California. It is actually a cross between Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a good blend of the drought tolerance of Carignan and the quality of Cabernet Sauvignon. The main part of the world that grow the red grapes is the Central Valley of California. Australia also grows the grapes in the Murray-Darling region and the Hunter Valley, however, these are in much smaller amounts than in California. Some of it is grown in Argentina. The Vinedo de los Vientos have it blended with Tannat. South Africa was also known for growing the red grapes for Ruby Cabernet, however due to problems with the fruit set and the powdery mildew in that area, the progress of this wine has been spoiled. |
