| Description:
The Sangiovese red grape variety is both the best known and most widely grown grape in Italy. In central Italy in the Umbria and Tuscany areas, it is the red grape of choice in their extensive production of red wines. It is sometimes mixed with small amounts of other kinds of grapes in the making of wines that include Chianti, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It has now begun to be grown in the eastern wine producing regions of Australia, as well, where it has become a very popular favorite among wine critics, consumers and producers. The wines produced from these Sangiovese red grapes are typically served along with food, and specifically Italian food. The full-bodied taste accents and compliments the food in a way no other wine truly can. The combination of the red wine and red sauce cannot be beat. It's also good with simpler picnic type meals of antipasto, bread, olives and cheese. |
